Errors matter. Errors are precious – if you want to learn. Be it a physical skill, a language, maths, learning to code or how to communicate better.
According to the science literature we learn most effectively if we make mistakes – but not too many.
About 15% of our attemps should fail. Then we reach the highest level of improving.
So learning deliberately is like walking outside on a rainy day. You might be used to avoid stepping into the puddles.
But even if stepping into a puddle feels like a failure – never mind if it’s 15% that you step into – they are the ones, that make you better.
Don’t forget: children love to jump right into the puddle.
